Beverley Nichols' Cats' A. B. C. ReviewThis is a wonderful, charming book about cats by the famous gardening writer Beverley Nichols. His books take place in midcentury England and are absolutely wonderful. There is a equally charming sequel, Cats X. Y. Z., and several garden writing books (not how-to's, but humorous stories of his experiences gardening, housekeeping, and English village life). "Five" invented the sport of beeing, surprising innocent bees with a bash worthy of a tennis pro. Oscar was adopted later in life after an "excessively Bohemian" upbringing and has a penchant for scratching the primrose yellow silk on the divan. The three share a home and garden with Beverley Nichols, who understands them superbly and rather dotes on them.
