Modern Essentials ReviewI was greatly disappointed in this book. I asked for it as a birthday present and promptly returned it. This book is not for people seriously interested in modern interior design or architecture. The book was Martha Stewart-type fluff. While filled with photographs, even those were barely interesting and certainly were not memorable.Modern Essentials OverviewModern Essentials shows how to achieve a sense of space and ease in the home by harmonizing aesthetics with practicality. Readers learn ways to create a home for living, not merely a designer showcase. The book features four major current styles: Natural, New Classical, Soft Design, and Color and Contrast and step-by-step guidance for achieving these four key contemporary styles. Dozens of color illustrations and over 300 color photos show how to achieve each look through the use of interior space and light, textures and furnishings, and design details from tableware to door handles. Color palettes, fabric swatches, suggested flooring materials, and ideal accessories are shown, and since practicality is crucial, the final chapter covers basic considerations from planning to room layout to home security.
