The Secrets of Droon Special Edition #8: Final Quest ReviewBeing the 44th overall book, 8th special edition volume and final book of the Secrets of Droon series, starting with The Hidden Stairs and the Magic Carpet (Secrets of Droon #1), "The Final Quest" presents a conclusion to the epic started 11 years ago. I started the series when it first came out and loved it immediately. I originally I loved it for its fun plot, characters and premise. It is for these reasons and more that this series has retained my interest and loyalty throughout the 11 years. Abbot's strict adherence to stories with happy endings stay true no matter how dire the situation Droon is in. In the battle of good verse evil that this book and the entire Secret of Droon Series, the good guys always win the day(although not necessarily the book) and the bad guys lose but don't get killed. Tony Abbot knows his audience well enough to know that a truly satisfying conclusion of the series wouldn't end with children saving the day and then saying goodbye to Droon and their childhood alike. Though the book presents a fitting and poignant end to an amazing series, it leaves the reader knowing that though this is the final quest they will read of Droon but the adventures will continue for the character. Abbot even presents a whole new plot line through the book that is testament to the enduring secrets of Droon.
