Exiled. Shireen Jilla ReviewOnce I began reading Shireen Jilla's novel Exiled, I could not put it down. I was quickly drawn into a universe both familiar and unfamiliar. Having children in the New York City private school system, I was highly amused by her portrayal of some of its quirks. I was also fascinated to view New York from the perspective of an expatriate, for I would not have quite imagined how life can look to someone from abroad. Beautifully crafted, the novel's plot kept me in suspense. I would highly recommend Exiled for anyone intrigued by the strange and unbelievable culture of New York City.Exiled. Shireen Jilla OverviewIn love with her husband Jessie, an ambitious British diplomat, whose first posting brings them to New York, Anna begins the hectic, enjoyable life of a successful expat. But New York also brings her into contact with her husband's manipulative and competitive stepmother Nancy, a powerful American socialite and philanthropist. When a silly incident with her only son Josh involves the Police Department, Anna's seemingly perfect world begins to shatter. As Jessie's journey to rediscover his New York roots draws him closer to Nancy, terrible and strange things keep happening to Anna. She begins to fear that someone is out to destroy her family.
