Now I Lay Thee Down to Sleep ReviewI recieved a copy of "Now I lay me Down to Sleep" for review a few days ago and since then, I've spent every spare moment I've had reading. It is a gripping, emotional and exciting story that delves deep into the emotional state of possible serial killers. I just finished reading it and I'm still trying to shake off the adrenaline running through my system. I don't want to give away the ending, but I will say that I found the climax extremely gripping and I was left fully satisfied by the last page.
There are several things I really liked about this book, but one of the things that really stands out is the attention to detail. All these small elements in the descriptions and from the narrators thought really make this story real.
I also really liked the section where the readers don't know which of the two protagonists is narrating. That's a pretty cool effect because it really pulls the reader into the mystery as they try to figure it out.
I must say that this book certainly does take you on a bit of an emotional roller coaster. One minute I like the protagonists, the next I can't stand them, a few paragraphs later I'm feeling sorry for them. I was especially impressed by how realistic Billy's relationship with his Mom was. His responses were exactly like mine would have been when I was a kid. Overall, the characters are extremely believable, the plot moves along at a good pace, and the ending is completely satisfying.
The reason I gave this book four stars instead of five is simply because, as a matter of personal preference, I tend to prefer books where I really like the protagonist. Otherwise, this book was truly a fun read.
